pay it forward

As I sit here reminiscing, I realize it has been quite some time since I deliberately sat to write about Rwanda. I'm back to life in the US, physically far removed from that world I stepped into last summer, and yet my mind and heart remains there, especially with my girls. Thanks to Whatsapp (free txt app FB just bought), the ladies and I keep in touch pretty frequently. I still find myself giving them input and encouraging them not to give up on dreams too easily. They send me compliments constantly that brings a big smile to my face. When was the last time you didn't smile when complimented? :)

Over thanksgiving 2013 one of the OAD scholars, Charlotte who attends Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, spent a few days visiting me in Seattle. What a delight to make a new African sister.

My favorite news
1. 4 OAD scholars I interacted with while in Rwanda have received admissions and significant scholarships to various US schools. What a celebration, indeed.
2. We still eagerly await news of 4 more of our girls who are being considered for admission and scholarships. I have very high hopes.

Aren't they just beautiful?!?

Each time I talk about or reflect on my time over the summer, this comes to mind: What a PRIVILEGE I had to rub lives a bit with young women of honor who will, infact, change the world! I personally want to invite you to jump into this amazing adventure. OAD is growing VERY quickly and will continue to grow simply because the heart of the organization is right and beautiful, plus extraordinary women are putting their hands to the plow and working it reeeal good (shout out to Barb and her outstanding team of mentors, donors and staff). YOU too can be a part. I highly encourage you to pay it forward and let's see more astute women receive opportunities to develop their countries. Below is the fundraising website. To the right you'll see 'Meet The Champions' so click on my page.

I hope to resume my overseas adventures someday soon. I will keep you posted!

With deepest gratitude and much love,
Frances
